NORWEGIAN GEM FACTS

Description
Norwegian Gem is the last of the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Jewel Class ships and sister ship to Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Pearl. The Norwegian Gem is the thirteenth ship in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet The hull of the Norwegian Gem has a similar look when compared to Norwegian Dawn and Star; however the differences are noticeable inside, with distinctive colourful exotic interiors.

The Norwegian Gem are cruises the Bahamas, Caribbean and the Mediterranean.

History
The Jewel Class Norwegian Gem was built in the year 2006, by Meyer Werft at Papenburg, in Germany. Norwegian Gem was launched the following year and made known by a website called ‘Gem it Girl’. It initially began its cruises from New York to the Caribbean and the Bahamas; later in 2008 it started its Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona in Spain.

Dining
Similar to the other Norwegian Cruise Line, the Norwegian Gem also provides ‘free style’ dinning where there are no dress codes required to eat at any of the restaurants on the cruise. To name a few of the restaurants, Le Bistro French Restaurant, Orchid Garden – an Asian cuisine, Cagney’s restaurant, Teppanyaki restaurant, Tequila/Tapas Restaurant, Lacucina Italian Restaurant, Java café, Star bar, Spinnaker Bar and lounge, another Bar and lounge called Bliss Ultra and Leopard Lounge.

Entertainment
A unique feature on the Norwegian Gem is the four lane bowling alley and a rock climbing wall. Other places of entertainment include, swimming pools one separately just for the kids, Corona Cigar Club, a Treetops kids Club, Casino, Video Arcade and a Stardust theatre.
The Norwegian Gem, caters to various aspects of what one would want on a vacation, and keeping this in mind the cruise offers a ‘Body Waves fitness centre’, a ‘Ying-Yang’ Spa, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, a jogging and walking track. They also have a basket ball and volley ball court.

Cabins
Cabins include Balcony staterooms, Ocean view stateroom, and Obstructed view state rooms, Inside and outside view staterooms. Garden villas at approximately 4000 sq ft have a living, dining and equally spacious bathrooms, with a full bath and a whirlpool tub. There are also Owner’s Suites, Courtyard suites, Romance suites and mini-suites.
