OOSTERDAM FACTS

Description
Oosterdam is the second Vista class vessel from Holland America cruise line. The heart of the ship has a Waterford crystal globe that stretches all through three decks of the atrium. The ship is decked with crystals, embellished wood work and brass. As with the other HAL cruises, Oosterdam too has a good blend of modern technology and Dutch heritage. The name Oosterdam is taken from a Dutch word meaning ‘eastern’

Destinations
Oosterdam has two major cruises; one to Alaska and the other to the Mexican Riviera.

History
Oosterdam was named by Princess Margret of Netherlands, at a ceremony in Rotterdam on the 29th of July in 2003. This was during the celebration of Holland America Line’s 130th anniversary. The ship has an art gallery that exhibits a reproduction of unique necklace from Rajasthan that goes back to the 19th century.

Dining
Oosterdam’s dining services on the cruise has the standard restaurants one would see on all HAL cruises like The Vista dining room, Lido bar and restaurant, Pinnacle grill, Terrance grill, Canaletto restaurant, Northern Lights club, a Crow’s Nest night club, Piano bar, La Fontaine restaurant, sports bar, 16-hour café, a Coffee corner, Neptune lounge and an Ocean bar. The restaurants give passengers a choice to reserve seating or to use the flexible walk in options for dining.

Entertainment
Oosterdam entertainment includes Club HAL and the Loft a club for kids and teens to socialize which is loaded with a lot of fun activities; a Culinary arts centre where chefs give cookery lessons and cooking tips; a disco, two pools, a cigar room, and an Alternate theatre that hosts music, dancing and comedy shows. For those fitness fans, the Lido deck is the right place to be as it has a Fitness Centre. For those who want to relax and be pampered while at sea, the Greenhouse Spa and Salon is ideal. The cruise also has a therapy room, thermal suites and a hydro pool. Catering to all passengers’ interests and need while on board, there is a Sports deck with a basket ball court, a tennis court and Golf simulator room.

Cabin accommodation includes a range of outside cabins and inside cabins. Suites include Penthouse Veranda Suites, Deluxe Veranda Suites, Veranda Suites.
