NOORDAM FACTS

Description
Noordam is a Vista –class Holland America cruise. It is a name derived from the Dutch word ‘Noor’ meaning ‘North’. It is also considered as HAL’s new generation cruises. The ship has a diesel and electric power plant to make optimum use of the energy. The ship is decked with paintings from the city of Utrecht blended with more recent photos of musicians like BB King and Dizzy Gillespie. The centre piece of the Noordam is the embellished wooden Baroque of the 17th century made of ebony and precious gems.
Destinations
Noordam sails to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean cruise and also offers Transatlantic cruises.
History
Noordam received her name in February 2006 at the New York city port by Marlee Matlin. Noordam is a sister ship of Holland America Line's Oosterdam, Westerdam and Zuiderdam. These four ships are named after the four compass points with Noordam being the North point.
Dining
Noordam has more options when it comes to dining as compared to the earlier cruises of HAL. Its famous restaurants are a huge Vista dining room, Canaletto Italian restaurant, Lido bar, buffet and restaurant, Pinnacle Grill and a Terrace Grill, Sports bar, Piano bar, Pinnacle bar, a sea view bar, Queen’s lounge, Explorer’s Lounge and Crow’s nest night club. Noordam’s dining option is formal style with an option to reserve a table.
Entertainment
Noordam’s areas of fun and entertainment are experienced at the Casinos onboard and the Lido pool or the sea view pool. Famous chefs on the cruise provide cookery tips and lessons at the Culinary Arts Centre. Club HAL and the Loft is a place where kids and teens get to have fun and socialize.
Noordam provides health and fitness options for its passengers and all the choices are made available on the Lido deck which has the Greenhouse spa and salon, therapy rooms, thermal suites, hydro pool, and a fitness centre.
Cabins
Cabin accommodation includes a range of outside Staterooms and inside staterooms ranging between 150sq ft to 250 sq ft. A key feature of the Noordam cabins is the balcony facility available for most of the staterooms. Cabins are located on six different decks. Suites include Penthouse Verandah suites, Deluxe Verandah suites, Superior Verandah suites and Deluxe Verandah suites.
