AIDALUNA FACTS

Description
The AIDAluna is a Sphinx class ship that was built in 2009. It’s the third ship built out of six under the AIDA Cruises brand name, and is marketed for luxury travellers who prefer to have quiet travels to exotic destinations. Unlike its sister cruise ships, the AIDAluna has the most number of staterooms among its sister vessels. There is also no dancing area compared to AIDA cruises’ other vessels because the focus is on relaxation. There are excellent restaurants and world class spa facilities, though. The cruises on this vessel are also calmer. Based on the amenities alone, the target clientele of this cruise ship are adult travellers who would like to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Like most AIDS cruise ships, this is a German-speaking vessel. All announcements onboard will be in German, and the crew may know very little English, so you may want to brush up on useful phrases if you plan to travel with the moon goddess.

Destinations
During the spring, the AIDAluna sails to the Mediterranean and the Western European countries before heading back to its homeport in Rostock. Baltic cruises are offered in the summer months before the ship heads to Tenerife for the winter. From Tenerife, cruises to the Canary Island are carried out.

History
AIDAluna was the third ship to be built as a Sphinx-class under the AIDA Cruises. It was launched in 2009, and constructed by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. Being fairly new, it hasn’t undergone any major refitting yet. It is highly lauded for its relaxed ambiance and bigger, more luxurious cabins.

Dining
There are currently seven restaurants serving the passengers of AIDAluna. There are also a total number of eleven bars scattered across the cruise ship. The Rossini restaurant is the most formal restaurant among them all. This is the only restaurant in the ship which offers waiting services. The others are buffet-type or self service. If you want the best meat dishes in casual dining style, you should eat at the Buffalo Steakhouse, while the Market restaurant offered the freshest seafood you can lay your eyes on. The ship also has a sushi bar and the Bella Vista where you can order your favourite pizza and pasta dishes 24/7.

Entertainment
The AIDAluna has a glass domed theatre which allows guests to enjoy shows while admiring the starlit night sky. Unlike its sister ships, though, it’s quieter and does not have casinos or dancing rooms. Its spa facilities are exceptionally big, though, and you can be sure that you’ll get the pampering you need while you’re aboard this ship. The sun deck of the AIDAluna has an LED screen.

Cabins
The AIDAluna has 1,025 staterooms. Over 600 of them are outside, with balconies, and only 359 of them are interior rooms. All of these rooms are air conditioned, the most spacious ones having their own private viewing decks. They also have their own baths, and the best amenities offered by the cruise line including a satellite TV.
