Pullmantur Cruises: Spain-based Cruise Line

Pullmantur Cruises is a Spain-based cruise line which caters mostly to Spanish speakers. Pullmantur Cruises was founded in the 1990s and was bought by Royal Caribbean Cruises in 2006. Pullmantur is one of the fastest growing cruise lines today, but is not so well known outside Spain. Any traveler would be fond of its destination line up, though – Spanish speaker or not. It currently has six of the best cruise ships around the world which sail to the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea, the Atlantic, the Caribbean and other historically significant locations across Europe.

Pullmantur Fleet

Six impressive vessels make the line-up of cruise ships operating under the Pullmantur Cruises brand. The most impressive of these ships today is the Empress which can carry 2,020 passengers. The vessel is undoubtedly a luxury ship, installed with four restaurants, a piano bar, a café, a theater, a casino and disco. It also has two big outdoor pools, three Jacuzzis, a fitness center (with a rock climbing wall), and a spa and beauty salon.

Built for traveling families, the ship also has a daycare center and a game room. They also have a library installed for travelers who would like to read up about the destination or simply sit back and relax with a novel, and an internet lounge for those who would like to reconnect with family members and friends back home.

Travelers who would like a more intimate cruising experience would probably prefer the Ocean Dream to the Empress, though. This ship can carry 1,350 passengers with similar amenities to the Empress ship. The ship has less viewing decks, though, and the cabins may be smaller. The ship enjoys high ratings from guests, though, and is still considered one of the best ships from the line.

The Zenith, the Sovereign, the Horizon and the Bleu de France are also impressive vessels to take your cruise on. They’re smaller than the Empress and the Ocean Dream, but they have very similar luxuries onboard. All major destinations have onshore excursions as well, but these may not be covered by your cruise fare. The itineraries of  Pullmantur Cruises are relaxed, with the crew letting passengers spend a lot of time doing whatever they wished onboard.

Itinerary Schedules

Most of the routes offered by the Pullmantur Cruises are concentrated in the Mediterranean although they may occasionally have trips available to the Caribbean and the Baltic. The most prominent voyages are seven-night cruises from Barcelona to the Eastern Mediterranean locations, or seven night voyages to the Southern Caribbean Islands.

Cruises run all-year-round except during winter. During this season, only the Holiday Dream cruises through the Caribbean locations. Passengers who would like to extend their stay in specific locations may do so if they’re able to arrange their transportation with the cruise line. For Caribbean travelers, Pullmantur offers accommodation in Bavaro Beach In the Dominican Republic, and the Mayan Rivier on the eastern Mexican coast adjacent to the Caribbean.
