Description
Golden Princess is a Grand class vessel built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy in 2001. She is one of the largest ships of the Princess Cruise Line fleet. A focal feature of the ship is the Grand Plaza, an expansive three deck high atrium.

History
Golden Princess began its service in the year 2001 in the month of May. She was built in Italy at the Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani shipyard situated in Monfalcone. The inaugural ceremony was held on the port of Fort Lauderdale and the cruise was christened by her godmother Jane Seymour. Golden’s maiden voyage, however, was from the port of Southampton to the port of Barcelona on the 16th of May 2001.
Dining
The Golden Princess is very similar to the other Princess cruises, offering a great variety in the food served. The Bernini, Donatello, and the Canaletto Dining Rooms that can seat more than 450 guests are known for its fine dining. The other dining options include the Lobby bar, the Players bar, the Sterling Steakhouse, the Promenade bar, the Wheelhouse bar, the Desert Rose, the Sabatini’s Trattoria, the Mermaid’s tail, Prego, Trident grill, Sundaes, the Calypso bar, the 24-hour café - Horizon Court and the Outrigger bar.
Entertainment
A highlight of the ship's entertainment are the Movies under the stars and the Princess Theatre that conducts various shows. The other options include an Aces Card Room, Players, Atlantis Casino, Promenade Lounge, Explorers lounge, a Vista show lounge, a Terrace pool, a Neptune reef &pool, a Calypso reef & pool, Fun Zone Off Limits, Voyage of Discovery, The Skywalkers night club with a dance floor, Teen and Youth Centre.
Golden Princess has a Sports deck, a Lido deck and the Sun deck for those refreshing moments, treatments and a lap of pampering clubbed with fitness facilities and Sports gear. These decks include the Lotus Spa, an Oasis Spa, Beauty Salon, Steam, Sauna, Massage room, Sports Court, Aerobics and Fitness centre, Princess Links and Jogging track.
Cabins
There are more than 1000 cabins, including inside and outside staterooms. Outside staterooms have ocean view cabins, some with balconies. There are also some obstructed view cabins. suite accommodation includes Family suites and Mini suites. More luxurious accommodation is available: the Penthouse suites, the Vista Suites and the Owner’s suites.
