AKOGARE FACTS

Description
Akogare is a three-masted topsail schooner based in Osaka, Japan, and owned by the City of Osaka. The steel-hulled ship was built as a Sail Training Ship. A number of training programs are offered including introductory programs of one to four days, and ocean programs of over 5 days duration.

History
Akogare was built in Japan in 1992-1993. Her maiden voyage was to Shanghai, China in 1994 when she took 32 trainees onboard. Since then she has taken many thousands of trainees on programs around Japan, the Asia Pacific and has sailed around other parts the world including Europe and the Middle east.
